SPACE
In Space applications like spacecrafts (shuttles, rockets) and satellites, the major concern is the contamination of devices and the condensation of outgassing materials in the vacuum of space. As a result, bearings involved in such space environments must be ultraclean with appropriate solvents to avoid any volatile residues which could probably outgas. The HRB is suitable for space applications since it can be cageless thanks to the herringbone threads structure. Also, the HRB can fully be sealed with low outgassing and low-vapor pressure oil/grease or simply coated with PTFE, Vespel or PEEK.
